When I share a list and the user views that list, there is a edit button shown on the list details modal:

The anonymous user can even click on it and it will display the editor:

When he tries to save the changes, he gets a 403 error.

Instead of showing the user this button and the editor, I would suggest to just hide the button and maybe disable the editor.
